DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket
Original DirtBox Design Since 2023
The DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket is an original DirtBox design developed and introduced in 2023 to solve a common problem in overland setups: fixed side-mounted accessories can limit access, block doors, and reduce usable space around your vehicle.
Designed specifically for rugged overland use, this heavy-duty swing out bracket allows compatible accessories—including the DirtBox Hard Shell Shower Awning—to swing away from the side of your vehicle into a functional 90-degree position.
With gas-strut-assisted deployment, reversible mounting, heavy-duty aluminum extrusion construction, and a maintenance-free pivot system, the DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket delivers faster setup, better clearance, and greater flexibility at camp.
More Clearance. Better Access. Smarter Overland Setup.
A traditional fixed mount keeps your shower awning or accessory directly alongside the vehicle. Depending on your setup, that can interfere with camper doors, tailgates, storage compartments, ladders, spare tires, or other equipment.
The DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket changes that.
Simply release the spring-loaded locking pin and the bracket swings outward to approximately 90 degrees, moving your accessory away from the vehicle and creating a more open, usable space.
This makes it especially useful for:
- Hard shell shower awnings
- Overland shower enclosures
- Privacy rooms
- Canopy campers
- Truck bed rack systems
- Rooftop tent setups
- Van builds
- SUV and truck overland builds
- Other compatible side-mounted accessories
Fast Gas-Strut-Assisted Deployment
The integrated gas strut helps the swing out bracket deploy quickly and smoothly.
Instead of removing hardware or manually repositioning complicated mounting systems, simply pull the spring-loaded locking pin and swing the bracket into its operating position.
When you're finished, return the bracket to its travel position and secure it for the road.
The result is a fast, simple system designed for frequent campsite use.
Perfect for the DirtBox Hard Shell Shower Awning
The DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket was designed to make the DirtBox Hard Shell Shower Awning with Privacy Room even more versatile.
By swinging the shower awning away from the side of your vehicle, you can create additional clearance around your rig and position the enclosure in a more convenient location.
This can help provide:
- Better access to vehicle and camper doors
- More room around the shower enclosure
- Improved access to side storage compartments
- Better positioning for shower hoses and water systems
- More flexibility when choosing a campsite setup
- A cleaner and more functional changing or privacy area
For vehicles with complex overland layouts, the ability to reposition the shower awning can make a significant difference in everyday usability.
Reversible Left or Right Swing Configuration
Every vehicle build is different, which is why the DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket is designed with a reversible configuration.
The bracket can be installed to swing from either the left or right side depending on your vehicle, rack system, camper layout, or accessory location.
This makes it easier to work around:
- Rear doors
- Tailgates
- Camper entrances
- Ladders
- Spare tires
- Storage boxes
- Awnings
- Other rack-mounted equipment
The reversible design gives you more control over how your overland setup functions.
Heavy-Duty Aluminum Extrusion Construction
Built for real trail use, the DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket is constructed from heavy-duty aluminum extrusion, providing a strong, rigid structure designed to handle vibration, rough roads, repeated deployment, and demanding outdoor environments.
Compared with simpler sheet-metal or lightweight bracket designs, aluminum extrusion provides excellent structural rigidity while maintaining a practical weight for vehicle-mounted applications.
The extrusion-based construction also offers excellent corrosion resistance and makes the system well suited for long-term outdoor and overland use.
Another major advantage of aluminum extrusion is its flexibility for custom installation. Additional mounting holes can be drilled where appropriate, giving installers and builders more options when adapting the bracket to unique racks, campers, or vehicle configurations.
Maintenance-Free Pivot System
A reliable overland accessory should require as little maintenance as possible.
The DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket uses durable nylon bushings within the pivot system to provide smooth operation without requiring routine oiling or lubrication.
That means less maintenance and fewer moving parts to worry about while traveling.
Just deploy it, use it, pack it away, and keep moving.
Spring-Loaded Locking System
The integrated spring-loaded locking pin helps keep operation simple and secure.
Release the pin to deploy the bracket, swing the accessory into position, and use the system as needed.
The straightforward mechanical design eliminates unnecessary complexity while providing dependable operation for repeated campsite setups.
Universal Overland Compatibility
The DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket is designed to integrate with a wide range of overland vehicles and rack systems.
Depending on your mounting configuration, it can be used with:
- Trucks
- SUVs
- Vans
- Canopy campers
- Truck toppers
- Rooftop tents
- Bed racks
- Roof racks
- Crossbars
- T-track systems
- Custom overland builds
You do not need a DirtBox topper or canopy camper to use the bracket.
Because rack dimensions, mounting surfaces, and hardware vary between manufacturers, fitment should always be confirmed for your specific setup before installation.
T-Track Installation
The T-Track Installation option is designed for canopy campers, rooftop tents, toppers, and overland systems equipped with compatible standard T-tracks.
This configuration includes the brackets and mounting hardware needed to attach the swing out bracket directly to a suitable T-track system.
T-track mounting is an excellent option for modular overland builds where accessories may need to be repositioned or changed over time.
Crossbar Installation
The Crossbar Installation option is designed for mounting the swing out system directly to compatible roof rack or truck bed rack crossbars.
The included crossbar brackets and hardware provide a straightforward mounting solution without requiring an existing T-track.
This makes the DirtBox 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket suitable for a broad range of aftermarket rack systems and custom overland configurations.
Custom Mounting Friendly
Because the main structure is constructed from aluminum extrusion, the bracket is particularly well suited for custom installation requirements.
Additional mounting holes can be drilled when appropriate, allowing experienced installers and vehicle builders to adapt the bracket to unique rack systems, campers, rooftop tents, toppers, or accessory layouts.
This flexibility makes the DirtBox Swing Out Bracket a practical solution for both standard installations and more specialized overland builds.
Always verify load capacity, mounting strength, hardware compatibility, and vehicle clearance before modifying or installing the bracket.
Why Use a 90 Degree Swing Out Bracket?
A swing out mounting system gives you flexibility that a traditional fixed bracket cannot.
Instead of forcing your accessory to operate in one permanent location, the DirtBox bracket allows you to move it into a more useful position once you arrive at camp.
For a shower awning, this can mean the difference between an enclosure that blocks your camper door and one that creates a dedicated shower or changing area away from the vehicle.
For other compatible accessories, it can provide easier access, better organization, and more usable space around your rig.
The 90-degree swing-out design is especially valuable on builds where multiple accessories compete for limited mounting space.
