Chevrolet Silverado EV & GMC Sierra EV Truck Topper
Upgrade your Chevrolet Silverado EV or GMC Sierra EV with the Dirtbox Overland EV Truck Topper — a rugged, lightweight, and modular aluminum system built for work, travel, camping, and everyday use.
Designed specifically for the next generation of GM electric trucks, the Dirtbox EV Truck Topper creates a secure, weather-resistant, and highly functional enclosed bed while preserving the everyday utility of your pickup.
Whether you're carrying tools to a job site, loading skis for the mountains, organizing camping gear, traveling with family, or building an electric overland setup, the EV Truck Topper gives your Silverado EV or Sierra EV more protection, organization, and versatility without turning your truck into a dedicated camper.
Midgate-Compatible Pass-Through Design
One of the biggest advantages of the Silverado EV and Sierra EV platform is the available Midgate.
The Dirtbox EV Truck Topper is designed to work with this unique feature rather than cover it up.
For Midgate-equipped trucks, the Midgate can remain open with our topper installed, creating a continuous pass-through between the cab and enclosed truck bed.
That connected space opens up completely new ways to use your electric truck.
The pass-through layout is especially useful for:
- Sleeping platform setups
- Long cargo
- Skis and snowboards
- Fishing rods and hunting gear
- Tools and work equipment
- Pet travel
- Family road trips
- Weather-protected cab-to-bed access
- Camping and overland travel
- Extended EV road trips
Instead of choosing between an enclosed topper and the functionality of your Midgate, Dirtbox is designed to let you use both.
Built for Work, Camping & Everyday Life
The Dirtbox EV Truck Topper is designed around one simple idea:
Your truck should still work like a truck.
During the week, use it as a secure enclosed work bed.
On the weekend, load camping equipment, recovery gear, bikes, skis, or travel gear and head out.
The protected cargo area is ideal for:
- Tools and job-site equipment
- Camping equipment
- Recovery gear
- Camera and production equipment
- Ski and snowboard gear
- Hunting and fishing equipment
- Family travel gear
- Portable power stations
- Fridges and camp kitchen equipment
- Everyday cargo
You get the security and weather protection of an enclosed system without permanently filling your truck bed with fixed camper furniture.
Lightweight Aluminum Construction
Weight matters on an electric truck.
The Dirtbox EV Truck Topper is built from lightweight extruded aluminum to provide strength and durability without unnecessary bulk.
The low-profile structure helps maintain practical everyday usability while giving your Silverado EV or Sierra EV a stronger, more secure, and more versatile cargo system.
Engineered for Strength
The EV Truck Topper is built for real-world use — not just showroom builds.
The structure uses reinforced aluminum extrusions, precision welding, heavy-duty hardware, and a durable textured powder-coated finish.
Key construction features include:
- Reinforced extruded-aluminum structure
- Fully TIG- and laser-welded construction
- Heavy-duty hinges
- CNC-machined hardware
- Weather-resistant door sealing
- Rattle-resistant construction
- Durable textured powder-coated finish
From rough roads and job sites to cross-country travel and mountain weather, the Dirtbox EV Truck Topper is designed to handle everyday abuse while keeping your cargo protected.
Weather-Resistant Cargo Protection
The EV Truck Topper helps protect your gear from:
- Rain
- Snow
- Dust
- Mud
- Road debris
- Changing weather conditions
Dual extruded-aluminum gullwing doors feature recessed frames and deep automotive-grade seals for improved weather resistance.
A dedicated front sealing system also helps protect the cab-facing side of the bed area, especially on Midgate-compatible pass-through configurations.
Whether you're carrying expensive tools, camera equipment, camping gear, or everyday cargo, your equipment stays enclosed and protected.
Easy Gullwing Side Access
Large side-opening gullwing doors let you reach your gear from either side of the truck without climbing into the bed.
This makes the topper especially practical for:
- Contractors
- Mobile workshops
- Photographers and filmmakers
- Ski and snowboard setups
- Hunting and fishing builds
- Overland storage systems
- Family adventure vehicles
- Everyday work trucks
Quickly access camp boxes, tools, recovery gear, fridges, power stations, duffel bags, or production equipment directly from the side of the truck.
Modular Mounting That Works With You
The Dirtbox EV Truck Topper is more than an aluminum shell — it's a modular platform.
Integrated mounting systems give you flexible attachment points for work equipment, adventure gear, storage, and accessories.
Depending on your setup, the system can include:
- Interior T-Track mounting
- Roof-mounted L-Track
- Side-door L-Track
- Interior and exterior gear mounting
- Modular utility storage
- Tie-down points
The roof system can support accessories such as:
- Solar panels
- Crossbars
- Lightweight roof racks
- Kayaks
- Skis and snowboards
- Recovery boards
- Cargo boxes
- Ladder racks
- Awnings
- Camping accessories
Whether you're building a Silverado EV work truck, Sierra EV camping setup, mobile workshop, or electric overland build, the platform can evolve with the way you use your truck.
Built-In Lighting & Power
The EV Truck Topper can be equipped with integrated lighting and power to make the enclosed bed more useful day or night.
Available features include:
- Dimmable LED interior lighting
- Gullwing-door lighting
- Full-width rear lighting
- USB-A charging ports
- USB-C charging ports
- 12V accessory outlets
- Pre-wired switches
- Plug-and-play wiring system
- Marker lights
- Integrated 3rd brake light
This gives you convenient power for phones, cameras, portable electronics, camp accessories, work equipment, and other everyday gear.
For additional nighttime visibility, the system can also be paired with additional under-bed and rear-area lighting options.
Low-Profile Design & Road Comfort
The EV Truck Topper sits only slightly above the factory roofline, giving the Silverado EV and Sierra EV a clean, balanced appearance.
The low-profile design helps reduce unnecessary aerodynamic bulk and keeps the truck practical for:
- Daily driving
- Highway travel
- Parking
- Job-site use
- Long road trips
For trucks running with the Midgate open, you may notice slightly more cabin noise compared with driving with the Midgate closed, but the difference is generally manageable.
Midgate Pass-Through for Sleeping & Long Cargo
For owners who want to occasionally sleep inside the truck or carry oversized equipment, the Midgate pass-through creates a significantly more flexible interior.
With the Midgate open, the enclosed bed can extend into the cab area, making room for:
- Full-length sleeping layouts
- Long gear
- Skis and snowboards
- Fishing equipment
- Construction materials
- Photography equipment
- Pets
- Travel gear
This gives you many of the benefits of an enclosed adventure vehicle while maintaining the simplicity and utility of a traditional truck topper.
Climate Control Options
For customers who plan to sleep inside the topper regularly, heating and portable A/C solutions can be added depending on climate and use.
Cold-weather setups can be paired with compatible diesel heater systems, while portable A/C units can help make warm-weather camping more comfortable.
The enclosed pass-through layout makes these solutions especially useful for customers using the Midgate area as part of a sleeping or living setup.
Clean No-Drill Installation
The EV Truck Topper uses custom Dirtbox mounting brackets designed to install without drilling permanent holes into the truck body.
This helps:
- Preserve the vehicle
- Protect the body and paint
- Avoid unnecessary permanent modifications
- Keep the topper removable and serviceable
- Maintain a clean, purpose-built installation
Built for Real-World Conditions
Like every Dirtbox product, the EV Truck Topper is designed for real use.
From hot desert roads and dusty job sites to snowstorms, mountain travel, and weekend camping, the aluminum structure, weather-resistant sealing, modular mounting, and integrated electrical system are designed to perform in changing conditions.
Use your truck for work Monday through Friday and adventure on the weekend without needing two different vehicles.
