Heavy-Duty Group 31 Battery Tray for Epoch 12V 172Ah Battery
Secure your marine, RV, or off-grid power system with a Group 31 battery tray built for stable lithium battery mounting.
The Epoch Group 31 battery tray is written for installers who need a secure battery hold down for the Epoch 12V 172Ah Dual Purpose Marine LiFePO4 Battery. Whether you are pounding through heavy chop in a bass boat, building an RV house bank, or mounting a battery in an off-road electrical bay, this Group 31 battery bracket helps reduce movement, vibration, and cable strain around your premium lithium battery investment.
Built for secure battery installations
Secure Your Marine or Off-Grid Power System
A loose battery is a safety risk in any moving vehicle, boat, trailer, or off-road rig.
A high-value lithium battery needs more than a loose plastic box or improvised strap. In marine compartments, RV bays, and off-road builds, vibration and impact can loosen cables, stress terminal posts, and damage electronics. This heavy-duty Group 31 battery tray is positioned as a purpose-built lithium battery mounting bracket for keeping your Epoch 12V 172Ah dual-purpose battery secure.
Use it as a Group 31 marine battery tray, Group 31 battery tie down, RV battery mounting bracket, or off-road battery tie down in installations where tray fitment and hardware are properly verified.
Precision Group 31 Fitment
This tray content is optimized around the Epoch 12V 172Ah Dual Purpose battery, model 12172A-DP, which uses a Group 31 footprint measuring 12.91 in L × 6.22 in W × 8.46 in H. Always verify the tray’s actual internal dimensions before publishing exact dimensional claims.
Vibration and Shock Control
A secure hold-down helps protect the battery casing, terminal posts, internal BMS, and lithium cells from repeated movement in tournament fishing, trailering, washboard roads, and rough-water use.
Low-Profile Battery Box Alternative
A tray-style mount saves compartment space, improves access to terminals, and supports simpler cable routing compared with many bulky enclosed battery boxes.
Built for Marine, RV, and Off-Road Installations
Secure mounting for rough water, rough roads, and tight electrical bays.
Whether you are replacing a Group 31 lead-acid battery in a boat, mounting a lithium battery in an RV compartment, or building an off-grid power bank in an overland vehicle, the goal is the same: keep the battery secured so wiring, terminals, and electronics are protected from vibration and movement.

Marine battery securement note
Final compliance depends on the complete installation.
U.S. federal rules require installed marine batteries not to move more than one inch in any direction under the specified test force. A properly mounted tray and hold-down system can help meet that requirement, but final compliance depends on the fasteners, mounting surface, hardware, cable routing, and installer verification.
Group 31 Battery Tray FAQs
Common questions about fitment, battery boxes, marine use, hardware, dimensions, and secure installation.
Will this tray fit batteries other than the Epoch 172Ah?
This tray is positioned as an Epoch 172Ah battery tray for the Epoch 12V 172Ah Dual Purpose battery, model 12172A-DP. Because that battery uses a Group 31 footprint, the tray may also work with many standard Group 31 lithium, AGM, or lead-acid batteries. Always verify your battery’s base dimensions, terminal clearance, and cable routing before purchasing or installing.
Why should I use a battery tray instead of a standard plastic marine battery box?
A low-profile Group 31 battery tray can save space, improve access to terminals, and help keep the battery stable in a boat, RV, or off-road electrical bay. Compared with bulky battery boxes, an open tray can simplify cable routing and airflow while giving installers a secure battery hold down when properly mounted.
Is this battery hold-down rated for saltwater marine use?
The tray is written for marine and off-grid use, but the live public sources I could verify do not publish a formal material spec, coating spec, or salt-spray rating for this exact tray. Install the tray in a protected location when possible and inspect it regularly in saltwater environments.
Does this Group 31 tray come with mounting hardware?
The public product handle and available sources do not currently publish a verified hardware list. Before posting final live copy, confirm whether the package includes the base tray, top bracket, threaded rods, strap, washers, nuts, screws, or other mounting hardware. The generated page copy notes this clearly to avoid overpromising.
Can this tray be mounted sideways or vertically?
For most mobile and marine installations, a battery tray should be mounted on a secure horizontal surface unless Epoch provides model-specific approval for another orientation. Even sealed LiFePO4 batteries require a secure hold-down, proper cable strain relief, and terminal protection.
Will this tray meet Coast Guard battery securement requirements?
Final compliance depends on the full installation, not the tray alone. U.S. federal boat rules require installed batteries not to move more than one inch in any direction under the specified test force. When properly fastened to a suitable deck, structure, or mounting surface, a tray and hold-down system can help meet that requirement, but the installer must verify the finished installation.
What battery dimensions should I use for planning?
The compatible Epoch 12V 172Ah Dual Purpose battery measures 12.91 in L × 6.22 in W × 8.46 in H. Use those battery dimensions as the minimum fitment reference, then allow additional space for tray lips, brackets, cables, terminal boots, and service access.
