Why Use a Dedicated 48V Lithium Charger?
Better charging behavior for LiFePO4 chemistry.
LiFePO4 batteries require a different charging profile than lead-acid batteries. Pairing your 48V lithium bank with a dedicated smart lithium charger helps reduce the risk of incomplete charging, unnecessary BMS trips, and chemistry mismatch while delivering a simple plug-and-play charging experience.
Frequently Asked Questions
Epoch 48V 15A Charger FAQs
Common questions about charger compatibility, safety, mounting, and charge time.
Can I use this charger on standard lead-acid or AGM batteries?
No. This charger is specifically programmed for 48V Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. It should not be used on traditional lead-acid, SLA, AGM, or gel batteries because those chemistries require different charging profiles.
Can I permanently mount this charger on my golf cart or boat?
Yes. The Epoch 48V 15A charger is built with an IP67 dustproof and waterproof housing, a shock-resistant design, and ring terminal output leads, making it well suited for onboard golf cart, RV, and marine installations when installed according to the manufacturer’s guidance.
How long will it take to charge my battery?
Charging time depends on your battery capacity and depth of discharge. To estimate, divide the battery’s amp-hour rating by the charger’s 15A output. For example, a fully depleted 48V 105Ah battery will take roughly 7 hours to recharge, with some additional time possible as the charger tapers near full charge.
Do I need a special 240V outlet to use this charger?
No. This charger uses standard 120V AC input, so it can plug into a typical U.S. household wall outlet or a properly rated extension cord.
Is it safe to leave the charger plugged in overnight?
Yes. The Epoch 48V 15A smart lithium charger includes overcharge protection and other safety protections designed to prevent unsafe charging conditions. Always charge in a suitable location and follow Epoch’s charging and storage guidance.
What happens if I accidentally hook the cables up backward?
The charger includes reverse polarity protection. If the output leads are connected incorrectly, the charger is designed to protect itself and the connected battery system rather than beginning a normal charge cycle.
Can this charger be used for 12V, 24V, or 36V lithium batteries?
No. This model is designed for 48V LiFePO4 battery systems. Use a dedicated 12V, 24V, or 36V LiFePO4 charger for lower-voltage lithium battery banks.
Charging and installation note
Before charging, verify that the connected battery is a compatible 48V LiFePO4 battery and confirm polarity, terminal security, cable routing, ventilation, charger mounting, and moisture exposure. Follow Epoch’s documentation and your battery manufacturer’s charging guidance for final installation and use.
