GMC Sierra EV & Chevy Silverado EV Pass-Through Canopy Camper
Transform your GMC Sierra EV or Chevrolet Silverado EV into a true two-level camping, travel, work, and utility platform with the Dirtbox Overland EV Pass-Through Canopy Camper.
Designed as one complete system from the ground up, the EV Canopy Camper combines an integrated upper sleeping level, functional lower canopy, Midgate integration, modular storage, lighting, and power into one connected interior.
The result is more than a place to sleep. You get a spacious two-level camper where you can sleep upstairs and downstairs, move between both levels from inside, create a large protected living space, carry your gear, and still preserve the everyday utility of your pickup truck.
Upstairs + Downstairs, All Connected
The defining feature of the Dirtbox EV Canopy Camper is its integrated pass-through design.
Instead of treating the upper sleeping area and lower canopy as two separate spaces, the entire camper is designed to function as one connected interior.
You can move between the upper and lower levels from inside the camper, creating a much more flexible setup for sleeping, relaxing, traveling, working, and storing gear.
The two-level layout allows you to:
- Sleep upstairs
- Create an additional sleeping area downstairs
- Use the lower level as a spacious living room
- Travel comfortably with kids or pets
- Move between both levels without going outside
- Keep sleeping, living, and storage areas connected
- Create separate sleeping and living zones when needed
- Carry gear while maintaining usable interior space
For Midgate-equipped GMC Sierra EV and Chevrolet Silverado EV trucks, the system takes the concept even further by connecting the cab, truck bed, lower canopy, and upper sleeping level into one integrated camping system.
Midgate Integration — Nearly 11 Feet of Lower-Level Space
One of the biggest advantages of the Silverado EV and Sierra EV platform is the Midgate.
The Dirtbox EV Canopy Camper is designed to take full advantage of it.
With the Midgate open, the cab and lower camper area connect to create nearly 11 feet of continuous usable length on the lower level.
That changes what the truck can do completely.
Instead of having a traditional short truck-bed sleeping area, the lower level becomes a genuinely large protected space where you can stretch out, sleep comfortably, relax, work, or carry long cargo.
It can provide enough space for a full-length downstairs sleeping setup while still leaving room for:
- Camping gear
- Luggage
- Fridges and kitchen equipment
- Portable power systems
- Tools and work equipment
- Skis and snowboards
- Recovery gear
- Camera equipment
- Kids or pets
- Everyday travel essentials
You no longer have to choose between sleeping space and cargo space.
The extended lower level gives you room for both.
And because the lower living area connects directly to the upper sleeping level, the entire system becomes one integrated two-level camper.
Nearly 11 feet downstairs. A second sleeping level upstairs. All connected.
Keep the Utility of Your Pickup
A camper shouldn't mean giving up the reason you bought a pickup truck.
One of the main goals behind the Dirtbox EV Canopy Camper was to create a comfortable camping system while still preserving the basic functionality of the truck bed.
When you're not camping, the lower canopy remains a highly functional cargo and work area.
Use it for:
- Tools and job-site equipment
- Large cargo
- Camping and recovery gear
- Fridge and kitchen systems
- Camera and production equipment
- Ski and snowboard gear
- Hunting and fishing equipment
- Family travel gear
- Portable power stations
- Everyday storage
The open lower floor also means you aren't permanently filling the truck bed with fixed cabinetry or RV-style furniture.
Your truck can still haul gear, carry equipment, and work like a pickup.
When it's time to camp, that same space becomes part of a large protected living and sleeping area.
Work truck during the week. Gear hauler every day. Two-level camper when you need it.
A Complete Two-Level Camping System
The Dirtbox EV Canopy Camper is designed as one integrated platform rather than a collection of separate accessories.
The upper sleeping level, lower canopy, pass-through opening, electrical system, mounting structure, storage access, and Midgate integration are all designed to work together.
This gives you a camper that feels like one complete space.
Upstairs can remain dedicated to sleeping while downstairs can be configured as a second sleeping area, living room, workspace, storage area, or combination of all four.
For families or groups, the two levels also provide significantly more flexibility without requiring a larger vehicle or trailer.
Durable by Design
The Dirtbox EV Canopy Camper is built for real-world use.
The main structure is crafted from reinforced extruded aluminum with precision welded construction, heavy-duty hardware, weather-resistant sealing, and a structure designed for daily driving, job sites, rough roads, mountain weather, and extended overland travel.
Key structural features include:
- Reinforced extruded-aluminum construction
- Precision TIG-welded structure
- CNC billet latching hardware
- Heavy-duty hinges
- Weather-resistant doors and seals
- Rattle-resistant construction
- Durable textured powder-coated finish
Whether you're driving rough trails, commuting every day, or camping through rain and snow, the system is designed to remain strong, secure, and quiet.
Modular Mounting That Works With You
You don't just get an enclosure — you get a modular platform.
Integrated mounting systems throughout the camper provide flexible attachment points for work equipment, camping gear, storage systems, and accessories.
The system includes:
- T-Track mounting throughout the interior
- Roof-mounted L-Track
- Side-door L-Track
- Interior and exterior gear mounting options
- Modular utility storage
- Compatibility with a wide range of racks, boxes, recovery equipment, awnings, and accessories
Mount recovery gear outside, organize tools inside, add storage where you need it, or configure the system around your specific camping or work setup.
The camper can evolve as the way you use your truck changes.
Lighting + Power on Both Levels
Both levels are designed as real usable spaces, so power and lighting aren't limited to the truck bed.
The EV Canopy Camper is pre-wired throughout the system with electrical access available upstairs and downstairs.
Integrated features include:
- Dimmable LED lighting on both gullwing doors
- Full-width rear-door lighting
- Lighting throughout the upper sleeping level
- Marker lights
- Integrated 3rd brake light
- Pre-wired switches
- USB-A charging ports
- USB-C charging ports
- 12V accessory outlets
- Power access at the upper sleeping level
- Power access at the truck-bed floor
- Plug-and-play electrical architecture
Phones, lights, fans, cameras, small electronics, and camping accessories can all be powered from either level.
You don't have to go downstairs every time you need a charging port, and you don't need to build a separate electrical system just to make the upper level functional.
Both floors are designed to work as real living spaces.
Comfort, Space & Quiet
A camper should be comfortable enough that you actually want to spend time inside it.
The upper sleeping level is designed around sleeping comfort, insulation, ventilation, and usable interior space.
Standard comfort features include:
- High-density memory foam mattress
- Insulated roof construction
- Improved temperature management in hot and cold weather
- Reduced outside noise from rain, wind, and traffic
- Integrated ventilation for consistent airflow
Because the upper sleeping level connects directly to the lower camper, you can keep your main sleeping area upstairs while using the lower level as a living room, second sleeping area, storage space, or workspace.
Lift-Up Bed Platform = Full Interior Utility
Need more space downstairs?
Raise the lower sleeping platform and reclaim the interior.
The lift-up design gives you a wide, usable lower floor with access to the full interior space underneath.
The lower pass-through area can then function as:
- A living room
- A mobile office
- A food-prep area
- A gear organization space
- A place for kids to relax
- A protected space for pets
- A work area
- A large cargo area
When you need another sleeping space, lower the platform.
When you need cargo room, standing room, or workspace, raise it.
Instead of permanently sacrificing your truck bed to a fixed camper interior, the space adapts to what you're doing that day.
This isn't wasted camper space — it's usable living room.
Easy Gullwing Side Access
Large extruded-aluminum gullwing doors make it easy to access your gear from either side of the truck.
You don't have to crawl through the rear of the camper every time you need something.
Quickly access:
- Tools
- Camp boxes
- Recovery equipment
- Fridges
- Power stations
- Camera equipment
- Ski gear
- Work equipment
- Everyday cargo
The gullwing doors also incorporate modular mounting points and integrated lighting, making them functional parts of the system rather than just access panels.
Weather-Resistant Cargo Protection
The EV Canopy Camper is designed to help protect both your camping equipment and everyday cargo from rain, snow, dust, mud, and road debris.
Deep automotive-style seals, recessed door frames, and a dedicated front sealing system help protect the enclosed bed and living area.
That makes the camper practical not only for camping, but also for customers carrying valuable tools, electronics, camera equipment, outdoor gear, and work equipment every day.
Lightweight Aluminum Construction
Weight matters on an electric truck.
The Dirtbox EV Canopy Camper uses lightweight extruded aluminum construction to balance strength, rigidity, and long-term durability without adding unnecessary bulk.
The structure is engineered to handle real-world travel while keeping the system practical for daily driving, work, and EV adventure use.
Built for Work, Camping & Everyday Life
The EV Canopy Camper is designed around a simple idea:
One truck should be able to do more.
Use it as a work truck during the week.
Carry tools and everyday cargo without giving up your truck-bed utility.
Take the family on a road trip.
Load skis for the mountains.
Head off-grid for the weekend.
Sleep upstairs, downstairs, or both.
Whether you're building a GMC Sierra EV camper, Chevrolet Silverado EV camper, electric truck camper, EV overland build, mobile work truck, or family adventure vehicle, the system adapts to how you actually use your truck.
Built for Real-World Conditions
Like every Dirtbox system, the EV Canopy Camper is designed for actual travel — not just showroom photos.
Weather-resistant construction, reinforced aluminum, integrated electrical systems, ventilation, and modular mounting help make it suitable for year-round use.
For four-season camping, the system can also be configured to work with compatible heating or portable A/C solutions depending on your climate and setup.
Clean No-Drill Installation
The EV Canopy Camper uses custom Dirtbox mounting hardware designed to install without drilling permanent holes into the truck body.
This helps:
- Preserve the vehicle
- Protect the body and paint
- Avoid unnecessary permanent modifications
- Keep the system removable and serviceable
- Maintain a clean, purpose-built installation
Due to the complexity of the Midgate and pass-through integration, professional installation is strongly recommended.
